Bored with the same old routine? Want to help others? Want to meet new friends? Want to share your experiences? But do you want to help yourself?

Then why not become a volunteer for the Community Links Scheme? By doing so you will help people in Gateshead with learning disabilities build a better social life and at the same time enhance your own.

Many people with learning disabilities have spent a large proportion of their lives living in long stay hospitals and may have found it difficult to build a social life for themselves. The scheme, with the support of volunteers, enables people to participate in leisure, social activities within the community and have the opportunity to perhaps form friendships. No special skills or experience are required and people of all ages are welcome to join the scheme. Your expenses will be paid and support is provided. Just a couple of hours per month could radically change someone’s life.

Volunteers are being sought for the following... Sessional Volunteers, Volunteer Befrienders... to help in many areas and activities.

To join as a volunteer or to obtain further information please contact: The Community Links Co-ordinator, Community Links Scheme, Birtley Adult Training Centre, Harris Bank, Birtley, County Durham. DH3 2LN. Telephone 0191 433 2410.
